Today, we will explore the Brand Group, which is part of the ABCDE groups at Alpha Brothers. The UX/UI team within the Brand Group focuses on delivering exceptional user experiences by planning and designing web and app interfaces that highlight the unique features of our clients' brands. This team is composed of strategists dedicated to expressing a company's strengths through brand language. Let's dive into the various roles and responsibilities of the Brand Group through the insights of one of their designated designers.

Jungeun Ji, UXUI designer at the Brand Group
Q. Ms. Jungeun Ji, could you introduce the roles of each team?
The Brand Group can be broadly divided into three teams: the Graphic Team, which handles both online and offline materials such as logos and packaging; the Visual Arts Team, which focuses on photography and video shooting; and the UX/UI Team, which is responsible for the planning and design of web and app services. Currently, the Graphic Team is divided into Team 1 and Team 2 due to its size, making a total of five teams.
Q. When did you join, and what are your primary responsibilities?
I started at Alpha Brothers as a PPT Designer. My role involved collaborating with the Advisor Group to visualize document content and create presentation materials. One day, I realized that what I really wanted was UX/UI design, so I moved to the UX/UI Team over two years ago. Currently, I am responsible for the planning and design of website services. I am one of the longest-serving members of the team.
Q. With such diverse work, how are the three design areas and teams interconnected?
Each of the three teams has its own area of expertise, but they collaborate to build a comprehensive brand identity. For instance, when the Graphic Team creates a BI CI guidebook, the UX/UI Team uses that material to build the website. Meanwhile, the Visual Arts Team captures the necessary photos and videos, which are then integrated into the website.

Q. You’ve supported the growth of many companies. Could you share a particularly memorable success story?
One memorable success story is from 2022 with a brand called “Hyangyu Gallery,” which used the “I’mweb” solution. Unlike Cafe24, which is highly specialized for e-commerce shopping malls, I’mweb offers greater design flexibility, making it more suitable for corporate introduction websites.
Hyangyu Gallery was a unique brand that introduced a multifaceted cultural space combining an exhibition area with a café. The website needed to feature not only corporate information but also updates on exhibitions and a shopping mall function for coffee bean purchases.
Initially, there were many challenges, but by frequently communicating with the client, we prioritized the content. We decided on which aspects of the brand to introduce first and refined the direction. As a result, the website received positive feedback for being distinctive and well-designed. It was even featured in the I’mweb newsletter as a “Specialized Brand Corporate Introduction Website,” which was a bit embarrassing but gratifying.

Q. What are your main responsibilities, and what is your unique approach to your work?
When working, I focus heavily on planning and storytelling. It's essential to have a clear direction and detailed design for the website so that when we apply the brand mood, we can effectively express the unique services of that brand. This approach often leads to high satisfaction from our clients.
Q. How would you describe the atmosphere in the UX/UI team?
In one sentence: "Honest and also cheerful."
We regularly conduct internal studies and share feedback openly. For instance, if someone’s work is particularly beautiful, we might all gather to say, "This is so pretty! I’d love to try this out myself." We accept compliments and feedback constructively, so there’s no build-up of negative feelings or misunderstandings. This positive environment makes collaboration enjoyable and valuable, and our internal studies provide us with useful insights.
Q. Are there any studies or projects the UX/UI team is currently working on?
To achieve precise UX/UI design, we need to analyze data and user feedback, such as AS-IS and TO-BE scenarios. However, there are limitations in extracting data directly from practical work. Therefore, we plan to complement this through internal studies focused on data-driven tasks.
We also have in-house development projects in collaboration with the development team. After the UX/UI team handles planning and design, the development team carries out the coding. While we do extensive planning and design for apps and websites, there are constraints when it comes to development. With the advancement of no-code solutions and AI, we believe these tools can help overcome these limitations and provide opportunities to enhance our design capabilities.

Q. Could you explain the ABBG design subscription service?
ABBG is an Independent Label established by the Brand Group of Alpha Brothers. Our design subscription service allows you to access a team of ten designers for the cost equivalent to hiring just one designer.
Typically, fixed costs like salaries can be a burden for companies, especially in the design field where hiring a single designer often means compromising on quality. In our Brand Group, even within a single group, we split into three specialized teams because expertise in specific areas is crucial for delivering high-quality design.
Instead of hiring multiple designers for various needs, our subscription service provides access to a range of designers based on your specific requirements. For example, if you need website design in January and product packaging design in February, you might struggle to hire a UX/UI designer and a packaging designer separately. With ABBG's design subscription, you can have a UX/UI designer assigned in January and a packaging designer in February.
*For more details about the service, please visit the ABBG website.
Q. Could you highlight the strengths of the Brand Group?
We work with clients from various sectors, including manufacturing, distribution, marketing, and IT. This diverse exposure broadens our perspective and allows us to produce a wide range of results. One of our biggest strengths is our ability to propose and deliver high-quality results regardless of the client’s background. This versatility is partly due to our close collaboration with the Business Planning Team, which involves working on presentation materials and IR design. This collaboration helps our designers gain a business perspective, which is unique to Alpha Brothers.
Q. What kind of new team members are you looking for?
We would appreciate seeing a strategic approach in your resume. The UX/UI team values strategists because they frequently communicate with clients to build direction and analyze whether the proposed strategies succeed in the market. Proficiency in Adobe programs such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop is also preferred. We encourage strong strategists who can effectively persuade both clients and users to apply.
