The "IP-Based Overseas Expansion Support (Global IP Star) Program" is a three-year initiative that provides comprehensive support for intellectual property (IP) to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with advanced technologies in the Chungbuk region. The program, backed by Chungcheongbuk-do Province and the Korean Intellectual Property Office, aims to strengthen companies’ IP creation capabilities and nurture them into globally competitive small giants.

The 2023 selected companies include KOEMS Co., Ltd., NPS Co., Ltd., Airrain Co., Ltd., Maruon Co., Ltd., IK Sung Co., Ltd., Jet Biotech Co., Ltd., Enbionia Co., Ltd., Daehan IM Co., Ltd., Medicluss Co., Ltd., Hongseong Industry Co., Ltd., SY Solution Co., Ltd., Prestige Biologics Co., Ltd., Geumjin Co., Ltd., Rifaco Co., Ltd., and Alpha Brothers Co., Ltd., totaling 15 companies.

The meeting featured a certification ceremony, as well as customized consulting and a needs assessment for support programs tailored to each company. These efforts not only increased corporate satisfaction but also laid out a roadmap for the growth of globally competitive small giants through in-depth discussions.

This year, a total of 38 companies, including the 15 newly selected ones, will be supported. The program plans to assist with over 150 projects, including 106 cases of overseas IP rights cost support, 5 convergence tasks for patents and design, and 40 projects for patent, design, and brand development.

A representative from the Chungbuk Intellectual Property Center stated, "This year, we are expanding support for companies in region-specific industries such as bio-health, intelligent IT components, and transportation machinery materials by more than 50%. We will focus on strengthening global competitiveness by enhancing IP-R&D and overseas IP rights for competitive export products."
